Subject: [Internal-cg] Update on communications plans

Our communications subgroup has been having some discussions in preparation for what we hope will be approval of our proposal as well as the CCWG proposal in the Marrakech time frame. I wanted to report back to you on a few plans we have set out:

* As has been our typical practice, ICG secretariat and chairs will prepare an announcement to be posted on our site and social media if and when our proposal gets approved and forwarded on to the ICANN Board for transmission to NTIA.

* We are working with our broader communications group — including comms folks from ICANN, ISOC, and RIRs — on materials that all of our communities represented in the ICG will be able to use or reference when doing outreach about the transition going forward, assuming successful proposal approvals by the ICG and CCWG. These materials include press release language and quotes to be used when the proposals go to NTIA, a short and simple FAQ about the proposals, top level messages, and 1-pagers directed at policymaker audiences. These are all in early stages and will be shared with the full ICG later on.

* We’d like to gather information about outreach activities that ICG members have planned to promote the proposals post-Marrakech.

Please send feedback or questions about these plans to the mailing list.

A related item I had intended to share was a link to materials from a panel session about the transition that I moderated at the recent North American Network Operators Group (NANOG) meeting: <https://www.nanog.org/meetings/abstract?id=2756>. There is a slide deck on that page that is an abbreviated version of the deck we used for the webinars when we had our public comment period and that folks should feel free to use if the need arises.

Best,
Alissa
